Frequently Asked Questions
Who will pick me up and drop me of at the airport?
Our team will be collecting flight information of all travelers ahead of the trip. You will be greeted at the airport by one of our hosts who will take you to your accommodations. You are welcome to arrive throughout the entire day.
Your host on the Island will always be with you to make sure you are having the best time of your life.
The check-out time is at noon (12pm). You will have an opportunity to store your luggage if you have a later departure in the day. You will be dropped off to the airport according to your departure time.
How do I get to surf spots?
We are providing transportation to/from surf spots on the Island. Our surf coaches will determine the best time and surf spot for the day based on the forecast for both beginner and intermediate surfers.
How do I get to the beach?
Your accommodations are located in the heart of Freights Bay, right across the best beginner surf break and minutes' walk to the white-pink sand beach.
You will enjoy Miami Beach, a popular sandy beach located within minutes of walk from Freight Bay. It offers calm waters and brilliant sunset views.
We also offer complimentary shared transportation to/from the beach.
If you would like to have some flexibility, we encourage you to rent a car. The majority of car rental companies have offers starting at $25 per day.
What if I want to explore all parts of the island?
You will have enough free time to explore the island. If you want some flexibility, we suggest renting a car. In Barbados, car rental is relatively inexpensive. On average you will pay $25 per day for renting an economy car.
Where will I be staying?
In which room I will stay?
The room you will be staying at will be based on your booking.
Is there WiFi?
Yes! Each apartment has a high-speed WiFi, but we doubt you will have time to use it!
What airport should I land to?
You will be landing at Grantley Adams International Airport.
If you are traveling from New York, we recommend purchasing direct Jet Blue flights that fly there every day.
Do I need a visa to enter the country?
The U.S., EU, and Canadian citizens using passports do not require a visa to enter Barbados for tourism under ninety (90) days.
You will need to bring a passport valid for the duration of your trip, return ticket to country of residence, and provide an intended address (we will supply this information). If you would like to rent your own car, don’t forget to bring a valid driving license!
What’s the ideal currency?
The U.S. dollar is accepted everywhere. We recommend you bring between $150 and $200 and a debit/credit card to be able to withdraw local currency in an ATM if needed.
What if I want to come earlier or stay a few extra days?
If you would like to come to the destination earlier or stay a few extra days - you are welcome to do so. You will need to arrange accommodations for the days that are outside of the paid trip package.
If you have any questions on where to stay, please don't hesitate to reach out to use. We are here to help!

How do you do surf coaching?
Before you join the surf escape, our team will gather information about your surf level, experience, and objectives for the trip.
Which waves will I surf?
You will start your surf adventure at Freights Bay!
Freights Bay is well-known for being one of the top surf spots on the South Coast of Barbados that is excellent for beginner and intermediate surfers. It is a long left break breaking over a coral reef with some sand patches right on the bottom of a cliff. The wind is usually offshore, clean, and with very little current.
As you progress, we will move on to the Drill Hall, which is an exposed reef break with left and right-hand break that has quite consistent surf. It offers slightly more challenging conditions, which will keep you excited.
If you are up for a real challenge, South Point is just around the corner walking distance from Freights Bay. It offers a more progressive and challenging wave. A better wave for short boarders than Freights offering rights and lefts. South Point can be super intimidating to the newbie surfer with lots of shoreline rocks and reef underneath. Depending on surf conditions and the group's level progression, we might be able to score a session there too.
During our Island Cruising + Wave Hunting Adventure tour, you will be able to surf at Parlours (optional). Parlours on a quiet day can produce some beautiful waves for beginner and intermediate surfers. There are less power and intensity than the Soup Bowl, and it can produce some left and right waves.
How many hours will I surf per day?
Can I attach Gopro to the surf board?
If you have your own GoPro, you can attach it to the board. Don't forget to bring sticky mounts with you.
Will I get photos and videos of me surfing?
How many travelers will there be on each trip?
I will be traveling alone on this trip. Will there be any other solo travelers on my trip?
The majority of our travelers are “solo travelers,” so you will most probably not be the only lone traveler in your group. Whether you are traveling with your friends, couples or by yourself, you will meet awesome people just like yourself who you will have a great time! Our surf escapes are designed for catching the waves and creating the best memories of your life!
I want to join a trip, but I don't want to surf. Can I still join?
Even though our trips are designed for people who want to learn to surf or who already surfs, we would be more than happy to have you join even though you don't feel like surfing. We promise that you will still have a blast!
I have never surfed in my life. Is this trip for me?
About 50% of our travelers have never touched a surfboard. We are here to help beginners learn how to surf, and help intermediate surfers progress faster.
